INSPIRE MANAK Competition: Unleashing Young Minds at Bishop Cotton Boys’ School
The INSPIRE MANAK (Million Minds Augmenting National Aspirations and Knowledge) competition, a national-level initiative by the Government of India, was successfully conducted at Bishop Cotton Boys’ School. This prestigious competition, held across three levels – School, District, and National – aims to encourage students to identify real-world problems and develop innovative solutions.
The Senior School witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of Grades IX and X, who rose to the challenge with a variety of creative and practical solutions. Under the guidance of dedicated mentors, the students showcased their ingenuity and problem-solving skills. An eminent panel, led by Mrs. Asha Mohan, Senior Faculty of the Department of Chemistry, adjudged three entries as the best for their exceptional creativity and practicality.
The Winning Entries:
- The Jouler 1.0 – A Marvel of Engineering:
Samarth S. Hegde (Grade IX F) designed an eco-friendly, multipurpose luggage carrier equipped with a portable charger and an integrated light source. He was mentored by Mrs. Elizabeth Angiras. - Smart Refill Pen:
Tejash Pathak (Grade IX E) created a ballpoint pen that alerts users when the refill is about to run out of ink, addressing the inconvenience often faced during examinations. He was guided by Mrs. Anniamma Isaac. - Astronomical Light Pollution Mitigation System:
Akshad Simon (Grade X D) developed a cost-effective solution to reduce light pollution, facilitating better astronomical observations in both urban and rural environments. He was mentored by Mrs. Mruthul Thomas.
The competition was a resounding success, providing students with a platform to unleash their scientific potential. It sparked a spirit of innovation, equipping them with the skills and confidence needed to tackle real-world challenges.
